School Arts Project.

All about inspiring young creatives, giving students the opportunity to collaborate on large-scale artworks and seeing their work exhibited at the 1770 Art Show. In 2026, students will explore the theme “Above and Below”.

Past Projects

Each year, the School Arts Project presents a collection of vibrant, collaborative artworks at the 1770 Art Show. The 2024 theme, “Connection,” inspired schools to create meaningful pieces that reflected relationships, community, and shared experiences.

How It Started

Originally launched in 2014 as the Large Canvas School Project, the initiative began with just four schools and has since evolved into the School Arts Project. Over the years, it has grown to include multiple schools and has become a vital community feature, fostering creativity and artistic development in young students.

2026 Theme: ABOVE AND BELOW

For 2026, students will explore the theme “Above and Below,” inviting students to explore the visible world around them above the surface and the hidden or less-seen world below it. It encourages curiosity, observation, imagination and environmental awareness - all through a coastal lens.
